Q: How to install version 3.4?

Hi

 

I am trying to install version Aperture 3.4 for a new camera. I have just updated to OS 10.7.5 (the most recent OS my laptop will run) and I have Aperture 3.2.4 already installed.

 

The App Store will only offer me Aperture 3.5 and just gives me the error "Aperture can’t be installed on “Macintosh HD” because Mac OS X version 10.9 or later is required." with an OK button and no other options if I try to update there and when I downloaded the Aperture 3.4.4update.pkg it says I have to use the App Store.

 

Any ideas?

(I originally had version 2 on DVD but upgraded to Aperture 3 in the App Store.)

I could download 10.9 as it will *just* run on my laptop but I fear it may slow things down generally - I'd budgeted for a new laptop in the Autumn but was hoping to get away with it for a little longer!

The problem with upgrading to Mavericks should not be slowness; I found that some applications were even faster and more economical with ressources, but check, if device drivers you need and plug-ins will continue to work. With Aperture on Mavericks you will need 64-bit plug-ins, that are sandboxed. Some printer or scanner drivers may no longer work.

    An Aperture version bought from the AppStore can only be updated from the AppStore. 

     

    It is really an AppStore purchase and not a download from the AppleStore with a registration key? If it is an App Store purchase, check, if Aperture is installed correctly, in the Applications folder, and named Aperture.  for the AppStore to show an update, the application must be installed correctly and correctly named; and you have to be signed in with the AppelID you used to buy the original version.  Then reload the "Updates" tab with cmd-R.

     

     

    Only usually the AppStore will only show the most recent updates, and not the older updates, but try.

    The latest update (to 3.5.1) shows up in the Updates section of the App Store when I click on the Show Incompatible App Updates link but says it requires OS X 10.9, no option to access another version

     

    I've tried all the downloaded updates now from 3.3 upwards - all say I must use the App Store.

    Thanks again, I'm just updating to 10.9 now so hopefully that will get it working. Drivers etc all seem to be OK in theory :)
