"An iPod has been detected but could not be properly identified" Solution

I've browsed many solutions on the internet to no avail for this problem with my Gen. 7 iPod Nano. iTunes kept telling me it could not identify my iPod Nano properly. However, I've finally found a solution to this problem after lots of searching.

I run Windows 8.1, but you're welcome to try this fix if you're on a different OS.

Open File Explorer, go to:

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers

Afterwards, look for the file

usbappl64.???

It'll be the one labelled as "Setup Information"
Right click the file.
Click install. It should only take about a minute. Afterwards it'll say that it was successful.
Restart your computer, and your iPod should sync as normal.

Wuh? It's an iPod., iPhone OS 3.1, ...It's an iPod.
