I can't turn off the email alerts on my iphone 5. Any ideas?

Under settngs - sounds it says new mail - none- but it still pings when a new email cmes through. Any ideas would be welcome - thanks.

iPhone 5s, iOS 7.0.4

If you are still receiving audible pings when receiving mail, you may want to check the current settings in Notification Center. You may find the following article helpful:
