Is it okay closing my MacBook lid just after shutting down?

Always I am waiting for turning off completely and it took about 12 seconds. Is it okay closing lid before my computer turning off completely?

OS X Mavericks (10.9.1)

No. Close the lid after the computer is fully shut down.

Welcome to Apple Discussions

Best to wait. Closing the lid will attempt to initiate sleep you could end up with a hung unit still drawing battery power. Depending on how long you leave it, when you next go to use battery power you could be surprised and disappointed.
