I was wanted to make sure that I had a iphoto backup in my time machine. I open iphoto and then went into time machine, but the iphoto window did not open in the time machine. The only thing I can see is the package. Why does it not open as a normal app and how do I make sure it is saved?

You don't access a Time Machine abck up via the iPhoto Window.
You can't open an iPhoto library in Time Machine you have to restore it first.
To test any back up you need to do a restore.
Thanks, that would be great if I was 100% sure that I had a full backup. However, since I cannot see the backup in the time machine, I am hestitant to "restore" and lose photos.
To test you restore to a different location leaving yoru exiating library alone and untouched

Command (right) - click on the library in the Time Machine window and select Restore "iPhoto Library" to ... option in the menu. Select the Desktop and restore to there.
