it just went blank

My son was playing subway surfer on my ipad and in the middle of the game the screen went blank. I tried to turn it off and reset it but nothing. I plugged it in for a few hours to charge it thinking it might be a dead battery and tried again, nothing. I hooked it up to my computer and my desktop is able to read some files off of it but not get into the main memory of it. I thought that maybe if I was able to control adjustments on the brightness that it could be that but nope, nothing. Any help would be appreciated. This ipad is less than a year old.
