Connection delay during operation with Phonak ComPilot Steamer using bluetooth means I miss the initial ring tone or email receipt etc. Anyone know how to overcome this problem?

Iphone 5s with OS 10.9.1 and Phonak Streamer (N15398 S1285 SN 1213N004J). Going to setings-accessablity-hearing aids- the phone cannot find the streamer even though I am using the streamer to make and recive calls constantly. It is the very short delay that is causing all the problems. I assume that it is mearly the time lag for the phone to connect to the hearing aids and start passing information.
