i put my gift card code in and have a creadit but it kicks me back to my cred card instead of deducting from the gift card. now what?

I put my gift card number in and it gave me a credite but when i go to buy it kicks me back to my credit card shouldnt it deduct from my gift card bal. NOW WHaT to do?
