i purchased and downloaded an audiobook. When i try to sync it with my iphone or ipod an warning pops up letting me know if i sync it will lose all my music and other info

I purchased and download an audiobook. When i try to sync it ot my ipod or iphone a warning pops " are you sure you want to lose everything on your device" I don't know why this is happening. The audiobook doesn't do me any good if i can import it to my phone or ipod. please help me understand whats going on.

iPhone 5, iOS 7.0.3
