Feb 23, 2014 8:27 PM in response to Grant Bennet-Alderby Frank_11,Within the Mac OS X Installer I'm asked to select the disk where I want to install Mac OS X.
The only option is the partition on the harddrive.
If selected it gives me "Mac OS X cannot start up from this disk"

Feb 23, 2014 8:42 PM in response to babowaby Frank_11,Sorry,
same problem as described before.
- screen to select language
- "To set up the installation of Snow Leopard, click Continue"
- license agreement
- Select the disk => Partition of HD
- "Mac OS X cannot start up from this disk"
The picture however is a picture of a harddisk, but with a yellow triangle and an exclamationmark!

Feb 23, 2014 8:49 PM in response to Frank_11by Grant Bennet-Alder,When you are done partitioning, you must have:
GUID partition table
Mac OS Extended (journaled) Volume
These are the defaults, but if the drive was never used before, it may have a different partition table.

Feb 23, 2014 9:28 PM in response to Grant Bennet-Alderby Frank_11,Those were and are the settings.
Both DVD's verified and "appear to be OK"
I do see an other disk1; "Mac OS X Base System" with an 'Apple Partition Map'

Feb 24, 2014 7:25 AM in response to Frank_11by Grant Bennet-Alder,That is the system (from the DVD) you are running from, and to be installed.
I suggest you not go down the Install path, but instead specify the language, then Choose Disk Utility from a menu, and select the drive by Hardware_name and ERASE the entire Drive. Then use PARTITION again. This time be sure to choose a NEW 1 partion from the Menu (do not rely on "as currently partitioned").
When completed, try Install again.
