How do you activate the search window? I don't mean find and replace. The old version of pages had a search window that opens to the left of the main window.

Perhaps you are talking about the "Thumbnail Pane".
Still available but not as functional.

No that is not it.
Pages '09 has a Search sidebar which shows you the results with the pages on which they occur.

You should still have Pages '09 in your Applications/iWork folder.
Pages 5 is really just a beta and best avoided for the next few years or until Apple finally releases a usable version.

Thanks, I'd forgotten about that feature. In the View Menu it toggles with Thumbnails. Or, Option-Command-F.
