Please someone help me. I have no idea what I am doing, I just noticed when I open Terminal it shows -bash-3.2$
If i type cd.. it wil say -bash: cd..: command not found
How can I reset this or back from bash 3.2$?
Is something to do with sudo?
Like a months ago when I deleted an app, i found 10 thousands of sudo files in my trash , so i deleted them, because i had no clue what they are..
Please help me out.
I have the same problem.. first my macbook wont load to the main screen. Then i went to the terminal it show bash 3.2 instead of root? How can i fix this problem.. not really a computer savvy but can some one help me out step by step pls😔

the “-bash-3.2$ ” is just the prompt that Terminal displays, waiting for the next command to be entered. Your cd.. command line should have a space between the cd command and its .. parameter. This has nothing to do with the sudo command.
I followed the instructions from an other post, and I typed in sudo su
it was asking my password, and when i typed in I got :
macbookproi7 is not in the sudoers file. This incident will reported.
my mac's name is macbookproi7 , so what is happening?

It's very unwise to type random shell commands without knowing in advance what they're going to do.

I asked what you are trying to do, not what you are trying to type. Whatever it is you want to accomplish with BlueStacks shouldn't require altering it.
Ok, 1 more time. Do you think to show bash-3.2$ is normal in my Terminal? Because I don't think so. It suppose to show my computer name! So doesn't matter what i want to do or type, I asked to help me to get it back to normal. I will go to the Apple store to ask, but I wanted to save a 1,5h drive to both ways.

what Terminal shows as its prompt depends upon the value of the PS1 environment variable. Try entering the following command in Terminal:
echo "${PS1}"
What output does it produce?
I made a copy of the screen :
Last login: Mon Feb 24 22:07:23 on ttys000
-bash-3.2$ echo "${PS1}"
\s-\v\$
-bash-3.2$
Attila,
try this command in Terminal to temporarily change your prompt:
PS1='\h:\W \u\$ ' export PS1
Does your prompt now look “normal”?

My macOS Sierra install is hung and now Disk Utility says my HD is corrupted. One recommendation I found on-line is to delete the macOS Sierra install file.
Booting in safe mode doesn't work
Booting in recovery mode doesn't work
Running disk utilities says my Macintosh hard drive cannot be repaired.
Absolutely no problems using the MBA before downloading the update to macOS Sierra so the HD is not the problem.
Any advice?
