Mirroring works until I try to watch a film.

So I have the iPad air and an Apple TV box. Mirroring works totally fine, but when I try to watch a film from my downloaded videos (from iTunes) the tv screen goes blank and nothing happens. The film doesn't play on the iPad either. The film works fine when mirroring isn't being used.
