App is not responding no matter what I do!!

Hey everyone,

Firstly, I am new to this community, I have joined because I have a big problem on my Macbook Pro.

I downloaded an application off of the internet a few days ago, it installed and I opened it to mess around with it for the first time.

The app didn't open so I tried to quit it and reopen it again. This is when I found the problem, the app had gone completely unresponsive. I have tried force quitting it everyway and nothing has made it respond. I have tried to shut down my computer but I can't because the app does not quit. I let the battery go flat and that didn't work, when I recharged my Macbook the app was still sitting on the dock.

I would restore my computer but I can't shut it down to restore it.

I am running OSX Mavericks on an early 2011 model.

How can I fix this????
