Hi, I have a MacBookPro. Downloading printer drivers has never been a problem before. I recently updated from Snow Leopard to Mavericks, on the recommendation from Apple tech.

The printer installation, following instructions, takes a while to "download" but then says it can't install the printer driver as its not available from the Update Server. Going via Epson directs to Apple support for the Mac driver. The "Download Epson drivers" from Apple I aborted after 50 minutes and only 20% completed with no idea what it was downloading - all of them??

Looking at the Apple list of drivers, it includes "Epson XP-100", which is what I was asked by the Mac Detector pop-up if I wanted to download a driver for; then it came up with the failure message "not currently available".

The list does NOT include "Epson Home Expression XP-100", which is the name on the box.

After 3 hours and several different ways trying to access a driver for the new printer, I am stuck.

Any ideas please? IS there a driver for this printer suitable for Mavericks?

Thanks in advance :-)

What if you try deleting the /Library/Printer/EPSON and the/Library/Caches/Epson/ folders and then reinstalling the updates?

The scanner is shown as supported on

    Hope this helps.

Thanks for your reply, it works. I found a similar response in the community after I posted my question and did just that.

    The printer works great.

However, the scanner bit doesn't work, and now, because I binned the previous Epson files, my old scanner doesn't work either.

I got a new one for colour printing as the old one stopped printing blue, but just tried to scan, as the new one didn't work, and, of course, the old scanner doesn't work either.

I really would like to be able to use both in different locations. I didn't think there would be such a problem with two of the same brand.

Is there a solution to this do you know?

I don't know, but if the available drivers don't work after deleting and re-adding the printers/scanners, I suggest contacting Epson to see if you can get the previous Epson app that did work. Or, have you tried scanning through Preview, ImageCapture, or the Print & Scanners prefs?
