key photo missing after iPhoto froze

My iphoto froze while I was organizing photos. I had to force quit. When I opened it back up about 10 key photos were missing and I couldn't get them to show up.

Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Include the option to rebuild the thumbnails. It can take 3 or 4 goes for this to work

Thank you so much for your help. I tried re-building the library 4 times (takes at least an hour each time) and unfortunately I still do not have my thumbnails for about 10 events.

Any other suggestions?

You could try this:

Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library

Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.

Click on the Add Library button,

and select the library you want to add from those in the selection window.

Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the Library ➙ Rebuild Library menu option

In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.

Click on the Create button.

Note 1: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments. However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost.

Note 2: Your current library will be left untouched for further attempts at a fix if so desired.

Is there anything I can do without spending $30 to buy new software?

If I did buy the software does it work inside of iphoto or is it a separate app?

You can use the free version to do the rebuild. The paid version is required for copying events and/or albums between libraries or merging one library into another.

It works from outside of iPhoto.

I just tried one last time to use the "Photo Library First Aid" in iPhoto, but used the "rebuild library" option and it worked!
