Apple Configurator not recognizing usb connected iPads, Apple Configurator not recognizing usb connected iPads

I'm an IT techincian for a secondary school and the iPads are all up to date. However, the Apple Configurator is not recognizing any of the iPads through the USB connections. Is anyone able to help me?
