Hi,
When I edit my video's on iMovie 10.0.1 (The Newest Version) I get black bars either side of my video clip. However, it is only when I drag the clip down into the Movie section and not the Event section. I have tried all of the cropping settings but it doesn't work. It looks like this -
Please Help ASAP!

Did you ever find a solution for this? I have the same problem and haven't been able to fix it, and I see tons of youtube videos with screen recordings without any problems. The closest I have come is transforming the video in a Final Cut Pro project, but it distorts it, so it doesn't really resemble the original content.
Hmm, this seems like the clips wasn't optimized when imported or the aspect ratio is off.
Was it optimized when you imported the clip. Do you know what ratio the clip is (4:3 or 16:9)
No, unfortunatley I don't know what the ratio is. But when ever I do this and import with any screen recorder (including quicktime) this happens
hmm, then i think the video is recorded in 4:3 which is a non widescreen format.
What happens when you play it in quicktime

Right, thats the problem. its importing it as a 4:3 clip, from what it sounds, is there a chance you could produce a screenshot of the mac with the video playing in quicktime ?
But it seems to me that you will need a video converter from the app store to convert it into a 16:9 clip.

Yep, then it needs to be converted to 16:9. you need a converter.
Handbrake can easily do this, when you convert, select picture settings
Also if you are able to adjust the resolution in minecraft to a widescreen size. 640x360, 1024x600 or 576, 1280 x 720 then record, you will be able to record in 16:9 then avoid this for nextime you need to import.

The black bars are still there on iMovie.
I have black bars either side of my videos when editing.
