Motion to create interactive video?

I think I could do this in Keynote and turn it into a Quicktime movie (which I think supports links) for displaying on a website, but I'd like to know if it's feasible to do in Motion (or something that would give better results that Keynote) before I look into it in great detail.

  • Objects building in/building out
  • Objects clickable (in Keynote this would be to a different slide, not sure what it would be if I used Motion?)

I'm sort of asking for DVD menu functionality I guess, but in video format.

I have

FCP X

Motion 5

Compressor

Camtasia 2 for Mac

iWork current version and 09

PowerPoint 2013

Visio 2013

Thanks in anticipation.

Boy am I glad this question has come up. I've been trying to solve this issue for the last couple of years with various projects.

Basically, a DVD would solve this I think but I want HD quality and I'd rather avoid DVD.

So my current workflow is to create animated screens in motion, export as a .mov, import into PowerPoint slide and add interactivity into it with transparent shapes and hyperlinks. It works but I know there must be a better way. PowerPoint really starts to slow down after adding a few videos.

I tried using chapter markers in QT to simulate skipping to next slide but I can't figure how to make a chapter loop if that makes sense. Easy to make a PowerPoint slide loop.

If anyone knows a better solution I'm all ears!

Keynote would be the easiest way (I can think of) but you can probably get more out of the "technology" if you handle your content in a custom manner.

There's a freeware app called Metadata Hootenanny that can help you assemble the Quicktime movies and here's a rather extensive write-up on what you'd need to do:

You can definitely use Motion to create your sprites [DVD functionality at least]

😢 It have been 4 years since I got my first online educational project to develope as a multimedia content creator and still we are facing this ridiculous situation.

First of all, Keynote has the capacity of creating interactive content, embeded audio and video, hyperlinks and so on... but it doesnt export as HTML5. Its HTML export its a desaster.

Articulate works only for PC and running it with paraless give nerves... despite we paid 999 US for a peace of **** software thats nothing better than Powerpoint. Horrible interface and terrible presets that makes any work looks like it was craft by your Ant.

Captivate also... very expensive.

Ibook its a wonderful peace of software... but how can we share it in a course format on Moodle for instance.

I tryied something called Hype... it really deserves its name... its quite nice for those procing small games animations and so on... but it has terrible ways to work with text, very poor transitions.

I am really hoping that Apple disclose all Keynote and Ibook capabilities to work with education.

Its driving me mad!

Why the hack Motion for instance cannot produce such interactive animation with navigations... for god sake?

We are in 2014... all this tecnology is there, the internet its booming with interactivity.

Whats going on with the revolutionary promisses Apple use to full our hopes with.

Jeesss... I am too frustrated to have such a great hardware, so many softwares and not be able to put things

together in a decent and professional way.
