Possible WiFi Card going Bad?

MacBook Pro 8.2 15" OSX 10.6.8

Connected via WiFi to my home Network with an iPhone, iPad and this MacBook Pro. Thought that my ISP was choking so I run a constant Ping in NW Utility to my ISP. Every now and then the MacBook loses connection, the Ping stalls and whatever I'm doing on it ends. iPhone and iPad does not lose connection.

What I was doing for a time was right-clicking on the NW signal icon, then turning the Airport off, then on again. That reestablished my connection. That method stopped working today.

I currently have the MacBook hard-wired to my router for Internet connection.

Makes me think the WiFi card in this Laptop has died. But usually electronics either work or they don't so........

Nothing new added to this NW mix that has worked for 2+years, i.e. no new cordless phones, nothing moved, etc.

Try the basics first:

Change your router channel number. Most times this works & is all you have to do.

Disconnect & reconnect your modem. unplug it for about 10 seconds. Plug it back in. Do the same for Apple’s routers. Wait for everything to reboot.

System Preferences>Network

Click the Assist Me button.

In the next window that pops up, click the Diagnostic button & do the necessary.

Research Knowledge Base for network problems that pertain to the OS that is currently installed on your computer. See these basic networking KB Articles: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1401 AirPort troubleshooting guide

Also, run the Airport Utility app which is located inside the Utilities folder.
