Synching Entourage calendar with iPad2

I am unable to reliably synch my Entourage calendar with my iPad2 or iPhone 4s, and the problem could be iCloud related...perhaps. It does appear that iCal entries on my iMac (as left overs from work entries using Outlook on a PC) still show up on my iPad and iPhone, but they generally are only the repeating ones (birthdays, anniversaries, etc.). Various support discussions seem to indicate that Entourage does not relate to iCloud, because it lacks particular programming capability. Those discussions also seem to indicate that there is a conflict with iCloud and the direct-access through iTunes for synching calendars. Finally, using the new Mac OS X 10.9 and latest iTunes, I no longer find the necessary controls displayed to manually select a particular preference for my choice of source calendar or for my preferred method to populate my mobile devices from the Entourage calendar on the iMac. I rarely add a calendar event on my mobile devices; instead, I prefer to add them to my Entourage calendar on the iMac when able (Yes, I ocassionally forget to do so.). So, is there a foolproof way to ensure the Entourage calendar on my iMac is always reflected comprehensively on my mobile devices?
