Help fixing Itunes 10.7?

Hi everyone,

I recently bought a 2013 Macbook air which had the new iTunes 11 and mountain lion.

I much prefer the older versions of iTunes, and as such I used another discussion thread on this forum to help me revert back to iTunes 10.7, which worked well. The problem I have with the iTunes I'm now using is that whenever I am trying to play a song purchased on iTunes, it asks me to authorise this account. When I do this, an unknown error (-42408) turns up, and I am now left unable to play my purchased songs. Is there any way around this, other than updating again and using iTunes 11?

Thanks in advance.

OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.4)

Make sure you have the latest version of iTunes.

Try taking a look at this Apple article -> iTunes: Advanced iTunes Store troubleshooting

"Error 42023" through "Error 42408"

These alerts might occur when trying to authorize iTunes or during launch when iTunes checks for authorization information.

  1. Install the latest iTunes from apple.com/itunes/download/
  2. Remove the SC Info folder.
  3. If that does not resolve the issue, see iTunes: "Error 42408" or "Error 42404" after upgrading to iTunes 9.0.3.

quit iTunes
trash ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iTunes.plist
start iTunes, and authorise account

Note, the ~ means the library in your Home directory, not the one at the top level of the hard drive. You may need to use the Go To item in the Finder menus to open that folder. Alternatively, check https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4556384?answerId=20441424022#20441424022 which requires you have a Time Machine backup (though possibly if you remove the newer version of these files old ones may be installed with the iTunes 10.7 installer - untested).
