Anybody out there? I need help please. I wouls like to try and update my iPad from the current iOS5.1.1 to the iOS7 ( the latest version) so that i can function more effectively with the applications. can this be done?

do you know if there are any buy backs from apple concerning the first generation iPad? it seems that i have no choice but to update the device itself either with an iPad 2, air, or mini. will apple buy it back towards a purchase of an updated device?
