Please help. Purchaced mountain lion upgrade. shows up app store under purchased. click on download. Nothing happens....My iMac meets all system requirements. Stuck in appland. Also, I have heard bad things about mountain lion. should I even install? Or can I bypass and go to OS X Mavericks? Confused & afraid now...

If you're having problems with the App Store you might try this:
1 - enable the Debug menu in App Store:
defaults write com.apple.appstore ShowDebugMenu -bool true
followed by Enter.
2 - select the Debug ➙ Reset Application option:
