CD's taking up too much space HELP!!!

My Itunes library is filling up when i import a CD.

Each song in my library is taking up 40-50MB of space
On my daughters ITunes each song takes up about 3-4MB.
Most of my songs come CD's. Most of hers comes from ITUnes.
Someone told me my CD's may be in a different "Format"

Anyone no how I can change the format or what I am doing wrong to have my CD's take up so much space

Sounds like your import settings are in WAV format, which is a uncompressed format. To change it goto edit>preferences>advaced tab>import sub tab and choose MP3 or AAC whichever you prefer.

Now to change the format of what you already have imported in iTunes, goto the main library first. Now goto edit>View options and check "Kind". You should now see that heading in the library at top. hit it so it organizes the list based on the files formats. Roll down to where it shows WAV and now you can highlight them all rightclick then hit "Convert to XX" (XX being the setting you chose MP3 or AAC). This will convert them all to a different format. If the list is very long you may want to pick small groups to convert first as converting will make 2 copys, one being the WAV the other being the format you chose
