Q: Daughter gave me her ipod - But Windows and itunes dont see it as a device so i cant restore it to get some decent music on it

Brought my daughter this ipod off ebay and it came restored to factory settings - My daughter used it for over a year then transfered all her music to her new phone. So she gave me back the ipod as mine was stolen. now i just want to remove her music and put mine on it but when i connect the ipod to my pc the ipod says connected but i cant see the device in "my computer" and its not showing in itunes (i have also updated to the latest version and tried all four usb ports on my pc ) - Ive tried the reset option on the ipod but it doesnt reset to factory settings.

The ipod seems to work ok i just cant change / add songs on it
