Q: Is there an version of this guide (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4260) updated for version 6 of the Airport Utility?

I am trying to make sure my two Airport Extremes are setup properly but I'm using versiopn 6.3.2 of the Airport Utility and the screen shots are not the same. In particular, the current guide says I should set the primary AEBSs Connection Sharing to "Share a public IP address" but that option is not available in the latest Airport Utility.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

The document that you are using is long out of date....and would not apply in your case.

Apple assumes that you have the AirPort Extreme connected to a simple modem......not to a modem/router or gateway device that Internet Service Providers often furnish to their customers.

If your "main" AirPort Extreme is working correctly, leave it alone. Do not change the configuration on the main Extreme as there is nothing else to configure on the device.

As far as setting up your second AirPort Extreme, AirPort Utility 6.3.2 will literally configure the Extreme for you automatically and correctly.  Other than assigning a device name that you want to use for the second AirPort Extreme, there is no user configuration involved or needed.

Post back to confirm that you are connecting the AirPorts using an Ethernet cable with the cable connectioning from a LAN <--> port on the first Exteme to the WAN "O" port on the second Extreme.....and then we will setup the second Extreme.

You will likely be surprised at how easy this is.
