iPhone 5 lock button faulty

My iPhone 5 has developed a fault with the lock/power button. For a short while, it only worked when I pressed the left hand side but now it won't work at all. It's still under the 1 year warranty so I know that I can take it to an Apple store and get it replaced/repaired. However, there are some cosmetic scratches on the corners caused by putting it in my the same pocket as a bunch of keys. Will this affect the warranty at all?
