Mail's Search Not Letting Me Type Full Words

Mail is being as flaky as Safari now when I try to search for something.

In the last couple weeks when I type something in mail's search box, it stops letting me type after the first couple of letters, and I can't complete my word

Example, I search for say "Apple", it stops after Ap or App, and the drop down menu goes away, and i get hundreds of results for Ap.

It does this in a blink of the eye and Safari does this to me to, and as a life long apple user, i am sick of this.

Is this the new norm? If so, I think I'll switch to a PC, as have zero tollerance for this sub performance.

I am on Mail 6.6 (1510), system info below.

Anyone else have this problem, or can anyone else help?
