iMac or Macbook Pro for Cubase?

I write music in Cubase Elements 6 (similar to Apple's DAW Logic Pro X) and i use lots of MIDI VSTs and virtual instruments. The iMac I have now is a 2007 Core 2 Duo with 4gb RAM and it can't handle my songs once I put more than 5 tracks down. I was looking at getting a newer iMac with i5 quad core with 8gb of ram but I am going out of state for college this fall and was wondering whether a macbook pro (2013) would be a better option. With an i5 and I'd boost it up to 8 or 16 gb of ram to make sure my Cubase works smoothly. What do you think? Are these machines powerfull enough to run Cubase with 30+ MIDI tracks? What are my options? Thanks! 🙂
