Airplay mirroring broke in 10.9.2

i just updated to 10.9.2 and now when i try and airplay mirror to my Apple TV, it sends the audio but just shows a black screen and i can't drag anything to it. It doesn't show any of the options for external displays in the displays section of System Preferences.

Any ideas? i tried reapplying the combo update with no luck

iMac, OS X Mavericks (10.9.1)

I have the same problem. But I could narrow it down to what might be causing it: When you start Airplay mirroring it starts the service and probably passes through the image. However, you cannot chose if you want to mirror your desktop or extend it. In the picture "Schreibtisch erweitern" means extend the monitor. But you want the other option "xxxxxxxxx spiegeln" (I have two computermonitors, that's why there are two options), which means mirror the appropiate desktop. But If I click on it, then it doesn't change from extended to desktop mirroring.

Mine too. Happened last night straight after the update. I was just looking around to see if anyone else was having the same problem. Again I have two screens.

It wont choose to Mirror iMac, no matter how many times I click on it. I get audio on the TV but no visual.

So 10.9.2 update as broken it.

Same problem here.

I have several ATV2 and 3 but I cannot airplay mirror my desktop to any of them. I can however play content from iTunes throught the ATV with no problems.

I think this confirms SLANN303's theory about being a mirroring issue.

Guess the wait is on for apple to fix another problem they created. Hope they fix it quicker than iWork 😉

so i have an update.

got all the way up to a senior advisor. ended up doing a full reinstall fresh from Mavericks and testing airplay mirroring (worked) then went up to 10.9.2 and tested it (worked). None of my own data was on this at all, completely fresh. Used Migration Assistant to move my stuff over from my Time Machine backup and boom, not working again. wondering if this is something contained in my data or? do you think maybe whatever got messed up was saved in the backups?

This is just a hunch, and I can't test it right now on my own Mac machine, because I'm away from home for at least a day. But do you guys with the problem have a multimonitorsetup? I tested Airplay mirroring with my Macbook Air and it's works without any problems.
