There is a film i have on my laptop but it's a windows media player file. I would like to know if theres a way to transfer the file onto my ipad mini ?

You can look for an app that'll play .wmv. Or if you can convert it. Format Factory is a free converter and you can use that to get the video to MP4 which will import into the iPad.
There are a couple of ways. You can get an Application for your computer liek Handbrake to convert the WMV file to a useable iPad format like mp4 or soething, and then use iTunes to sync.

You can download an App that can play WMV files and transfer the fiel to it. I use Moli Player, though I'm sure there are others, for many many video formats not natively supported by the iPad including WMV
