Q: After Upgrading to 10.9.2 Isight is not working

Hi,

i just updated Mavericks to 10.9.2 on my Mac Book Pro (3.1). Now Facetime and Photo Booth is not working anymore.

Facetime is not working at all and crashes. Photo Booth tells me that isight is not connected.

The Isight is still visible in the System Monitor.

Any Ideas? It is really frustrating, beacuse i am not able to use facetime anymore.

    TimW321's advice worked for me.

    In terminal: sudo touch /System/Library/Extensions

    Apple Menu -> Shutdown

My 15" Late 2008 MacBook Pro wasn't even recognizing the built in iSight, in any application, or in System Information after the update to 10.9.2.

Update: After launching Skype things are back to normal (iSight works in Messages now). Thanks to all the smart people here that figured this out. Seems a bunch of developers need to update their apps,

    Old post below.

I've uninstall AirParrot, AirServer, and iDisplay from my iMac. Still no iSight cam in Messages. External iSight (Firewire) works in Messages.  Thanks for any suggestions.

Same thing with me. I uninstalled AirParrot and other similar applications, but my iSight didn't work.

How I solved? I reinstalled OS X and restore my documents and data ONLY - not system settings and applications. Then, I reinstalled all my applications EXCEPT for AirParrot, obviously.

    So, It worked

Not at all. Try downloading and installing the Combo update from here

    Cheers

    Hi everybody.

I have a 2009 iMac 3.07GHz running Mavericks. I have upgraded my OS up to 10.9.2 (Build 13C64).

Like a lot of folks, the build-in iSight has stopped immediatly to work....

No more FaceTime, bye bye Skype... And Photo Booth.

Restart, creation of a new User, one complete night of rethinking...  and find a SOLUTION !

In my System Preferences, I deleted some Prefs Panes: Flash Player, Flip4Mac, Air Display, GoPro and Perian.

And the iSight works again !

But wich Pref Pane created a conflict ? I will never know...

I have reinstalled all Prefs Panes... And works fine

It was Air Display. Now you do know...

I guess you didn't actually read this whole discussion before posting, as we'd already found the following programs to be responsible:

    • Air Display
    • AirParrot
    • DisplayLink drivers

If anyone identifies any other culprits, please post here.

iDisplay is another culprit. Downloaded the installer and used the the included unistall script. No more crashes after that.

I've also fixed my issue.  In my case, the culprit is the "Virtual Driver" of Splashtop Streamer.  After I've click on the "Uninstall/Remove Driver" box, and rebotted my system, not only I'm able to access my iSight camera from Skype and Facetime (I've gotta launch Skype first to get it to recognise the camera, and Facetime works thereafter), I'm also no longer seeing the VDCAssistant constantly crashing and trying to relaunch and crashing again, and the CrashReporter hog in Console.

Attached is the image of my Splashtop Streamer options after unstalling the Virtual Driver and rebooting.

    Same problem here.

    MBP 4,1
    10.9.2

But no iDisplay, Air Display nor Air Parrot though...

Skype and Photobooth camera don't work.

my main board is kinda failing after 3 yrs after the first replacement.

Hello, same issue After Upgrading to 10.9.2 isight is not working ...

After reinstalling Mavericks => same problem

    So => clean install

And after installing all my applications manually , I've found that in my case the troublemaker was  "Air Display".

Sorry for my English ... i'm french
