Q: How do I delete files from the message app

I need to delete files that are stored in the memory of the message app. This app is starting to take up to much space on my phone and I can not get rid of them. I can see the files by using Dr. Fone and a lot of the space is used by pics I sent in the past, years ago, but it will not let me delete them.I keep this app pretty clean and close out all unused conversations on a regular basis, but the **** phone keeps storing it. I also use phone clean that works great with all other apps but the message app, that app doesn't show up at all on that software. Can some PLEASE help with this? No one seems to have the answer except for a full reset which I really don't want to go thru the hassle of that.

Tap and hold on the photo in the message conversation that you want to delete, tap More, you can then scroll through the conversation and tap other items you want to delete so they are selected.  When done, tap the trash icon at the bottom.

These are files that are long gone. They are not recent ones. These are pics in the memory of the phone that can not be seen but the space on the phone just keeps building MB in the usage. I know how to close out conversation that are already open, that's not the problem. The problem is as I have described already.

Try restoring your phone.  That should clear any unnecessary cached files.

Not sure any one is listening to me. If you read my post restore or reset was not worth the trouble. Is there someone from apple listening here?? As I do appreciate the feedback you people are not helping. I can delete archive files from my PC why can I not do that with apple???? Short and sweet, I need to get into the **** memory of this cell and delete what it should not be storing anyways! It makes no **** sence why it would store messages.

You are on a community forum.  Why would you expect to address Apple support here?  We are all users like you.If you want to talk to Apple, contact support.  You can pay to have them tell you to restore your phone.  If you can't be troubled with restoring your phone then I guess it must not be that important a problem.

I guess I was expecting to talk to people that new what they were talking about. All I did was ask a simple question and got nothing back from you that would solve the problem.  Sorry but your sugestions did not help me. I'll wait to see if I get any other feed back. Don't get me wrong as I do appreciate your input, but it's not solving my problem. Why is apple making it so hard to get into the memory of this one app? I have never had a phone that I could not access all data until I got an iphone.

Actually I do know what I'm talking about, and did give you an answer that is likely to solve your problem: restore your phone.  It just isn't what you want to hear.  Restoring your phone takes 30 minutes, tops.  Otherwise, try posting over in the iPhone forum.  This is the iCloud forum.
