External monitor stopped working after 10.9.2 update installation

I've been using a Dell U2712H display for about a year with a mini-display port to display port cable.

However, after installing the 10.9.2 update, the monitor is going into sleep mode when connected to the MacBook Pro (as it doesn't think it's getting a signal), even though the laptop thinks it's correctly connected. (If I turn the monitor off, the menu bar, etc. revert to the MBP screen.)

About the only related Mavericks default I've changed is to disable the "Displays have seperate Spaces" option within Mission Control, although I've tried re-enabling this and logging off/on again to no avail.

I've also tried resetting the NVRAM and the SMC, neither of which appear to have made any difference.

Yes, I'm in the same situation. updated with iOS 10.9.3 and monitor (HP) does not mirror Mac Air computer screen images. No Dock images and the icons on the top are faded. Mouse cannot be seen. I've sent a rude email to Apple, probably so rude they will not respond, but this is really annoying. Any other fixes out there?

Ok, not sure what happened but the external monitor now mirrors my Mac Air. I noticed that the icons on the top

of the ext monitor became black where as the day before they were grey. I can now click on them as the day before I could not. After that I went into System Pref's - Displays - Arrangement (mirror) and all back to normal. I'd say something had been done overnight. I'm just happy its working now.

Similar case, although mine's macbook pro non-retina (mid 2012). And I had not been aware of the issue until I bought a Dell UltraSharp U2412M (1920x1200) a couple of days ago. Tried the VGA to mini-display port as well as the mini-display port to display port (on Dell).

No luck! Filed a bug report just now but judging by number of similiar threads on number of threads here (ans spanning at least two software updates, Apple has really let it slip big time)

Hi, I managed to borrow and old laptop (only has vga connection). I am on DellUltrasharp U2412M - problems are exactly as per this thread (macbook pro doesn't see it, monitor gets no signal).

So I got to the main menu now, by defaul, as I am connected via VGA, the vga is selected. I then go to the INPUT SOURCE, see the display port as one of the options but I can only select it, which, effectively, switches off the screen. Holding that green tick does nothing for me.

Am I missing something here?

I'd be really grateful for answer. (I've already printed out my amazon return ticket, in the meantime)

Cheers,

Filip

Sorry - was trying to reply to @Midparka and, just got shuffled to the bottom of the list with others, who have no luck or clue how to fix it (no offence). Here's my question again (apologies for spamming)!
