Trouble Pairing Bluetooth speaker with Mac Mini

I can't seem to get the Bluetooth on my Mac Mini to recognize my LG wireless speakers (though the Bluetooth on my iPad recognizes the LG wireless speakers). Any thoughts on how to correct this?

The Mac Mini simply does not seem to recognize that the LG speaker exists. I know the LG speaker is in Bluetooth discxoverable mode, as my iPad sees it.

You do have the iPad's BT turned off, right, when you try to pair with the Mac?

Better yet, on the iPad make sure the speakers are unpaired-removed, and then try pairing with your mini.
