What is the necessary procedure to protect my PowerBook G4 from the recently reported virus attacking Apple products?

PowerBook, Mac OS X (10.5.8), Model A1104 Distributed May 2006

If you are referring to the SSL vulnerability that has been in the news, that only affects Mac OS 10.9 and 10.9.1, and it does not involve malware. If you were using Mac OS 10.9 or 10.9.1, the solution would be to upgrade to 10.9.2, to enable secure communications again. Since you are using an old G4 with an old system, this is not a concern.
