Please see this User Tip by forum expert Tesserax:
I am using windows what would i use as my IPv4
That would be the normal IP address that is assigned to the device (the server in your case) to which you want to port forward settings. You would want this to be a "reserved" or "static" IP address so the device always gets the same IP value.
The IPv4 address would be the address of the server. It would be recommended that you configure your server to use a static private IP address so that it will be easier to access it from the Internet.
Ok new problem i have added a static ip (10.0.1.24) to my windows xp computer and added the same DNS that my rouder has and i port forward the ip the server runs and my windows can connect to the wifi but none of the browsers work? but when i put the ip and DNS on acquire the the browers work fine.
any way to fix??

I am assuming that this XP computer is the Minecraft server that you are trying to set up ... correct? I'm also assuming that your local network is on the 10.0.1.x subnet and all of your computers and this server on on it ... correct?
Are all of your network clients, except the server, configured as DHCP clients?
Which computer cannot access the Internet via a web browser?
Correct I am trying to run the server off of the windows XP computer my IP for the router is 10.0.1.1 DNS is
208.68.50.70 and 72.19.128.99 so on my windows XP I made the static IP 10.0.1.24 and I added the DNS servers as 208.68.50.70 and 72.19.128.99 then I port forwarded from my router the IP 10.0.1.24 the server runs on that IP but I can no longer connect to the Internet so I cannot reach the server from my other computers. what did i do wrong??
If you haven't yet, set the Router IP address on your XP server to: 10.0.1.1.
Open a web browser on the XP server. Instead of entering a URL, enter the site's actual public IP address in the address window. Can it access the site now?
So make the Bukkit server ip 10.0.1.1 or my my xp's static IP 10.0.1.1
Okay, I see that you are attempting to set up a Bukkit Minecraft server. Beyond port mapping this does not have any direct relationship to Apple Networking.
I would recommend that you either post your set up questions to the Bukkit forum and/or review literally dozens of YouTube videos on this topic.
Ok thanks
