Mac app store updates can't connect to server

Hello all,

I've been struggeling recently with getting updates done in the Mac App Store, roughly since the Mavericks update. Everytime there is a new update available, the Mac App Store can't seem to find it, I get this error everytime I click on the Update tab: An error has occured: Not able to reach Apple server.

I have tried rebooting without extensions, do a fresh install directly from the app store bought Mavericks, and since there is currently the update of OS 10.9.2 available, nothing is popping up in my Mac App Store. I'm still under 10.9.1 with a MacBook Pro mid 2010.

Thanks for all the help.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:

☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)

☞ In the Finder, select Go Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.

☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.

Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select

View Show Log List

from the menu bar.

Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then try the action that you're having trouble with again. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).

When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.

Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.

Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.

Thank you Davis for your reply. Find below the requested information from my console window following me pressing the Update tab button in the Mac App Store.

Step 1

Restart your router and your broadband device, if they're separate.

Step 2

If you connect to the Internet through an HTTPS or SOCKS proxy server, follow the instructions in this support article, or deselect the proxy entirely.

Step 3

Boot in safe mode and test.

Step 4

If possible, test on a different network, such as a public Wi-Fi hotspot or the cellular network of your phone.

I have tried connecting to another Wi-Fi hotspot. Find below the console registry that I got following pressing the update button in the Mac App Store. Also, my girlfriend has a Macbook Pro (mid 2013) running Mavericks and her updates are showing up in her Mac App Store while using our Wi-Fi network.

Linc, I have the same problem as the original poster. And when I open Console and choose All Messages, the following errors keep scrolling the screen up and up perpetually...

I am not using any proxy servers. My router is an Airport Extreme Base Station, and my computer is a late 2009 iMac.

I scanned some suggestions on other forums and tried the following:

/library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/

delete: NetworkInterfaces.plist

and

Deleted the files /var/db/crls/crlcache.db and /var/db/crls/ocspcache.db

Upon reboot I was pleasantly surprised that I could access the Mac App Store. I updated to 10.9.3 and rebooted. But sadly, upon reboot I could not access the iTunes Store or the Mac App Store again.

So in other words, deleting that PLIST and 2 cache files, and then updating to 10.9.3 today did not resolve the problem.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Wow. I just read another thread that mentioned SMC Fan Control. I quit that from the menubar and poof! everything is now working again, and those Console errors are gone. Sadly, I can no longer manually control the speed of my iMac's fans, but at least I have access again. Hopefully this info helps others who find this thread.

Hey Linc Davis, I am getting same problem but my issue is not with Internet. It has something to do with read-write permissions.

Following are the messages from console:

Any Idea?

Software Update can't connect to the Update Server" - so I can't even check to see if updates are available.

This has been going on for sometime.
