I have an old iPod mini and when I try to back up my music library to my computer hard drive it's greyed out. Is there an option I that I can select to make it work?
Esstentially I want to back up all the music on there, delete it and give the iPod to my Mom. So I'm trying to back up my music first before I give it to her.
Any help would be great.

You cannot use iTunes to transfer song files from iPod to computer, except for songs purchased from the iTunes Store. iTunes syncing is generally in one direction, from the computer's iTunes library to iPod.
However, there are third-party methods and utilities that can transfer from iPod to computer. If you do an Internet search on something like "ipod transfer,' you should get some links. (The CNET article seems to be popular.)
