Security breach and iOS 6

I heard about the security breach. How does that affect my iPhone with iOS 6?

iPhone 4S, iOS 6.1.3

Your iPhone is vulnerable to the SSL security bug unless you update to iOS 7.0.6.

You cannot upgrade to iOS 6.1.6 on an iPhone 4s as Apple's iOS Software Update system only allows you to update to the latest version available based on your detected hardware. For your device, the only update that will be available to you is iOS 7.0.6, which does include a security patch for the SSL bug.

No, it also affects devices running iOS 6. For those that can run iOS 6, but CANNOT run iOS 7 (the iPhone 3GS and the iPod Touch 4), there is a patch in the security update iOS 6.1.6. However, the iPhone 4, 4S, 5, 5c and 5S and the iPod Touch 5 can only download and install iOS 7.0.6, so those with iOS 7 compatible devices who have stayed with iOS 6 have to either move up to iOS 7 now, or live with the vulnerability.

The issue arises from a dumb programming mistake made in iOS 7. So if you are not running that iOS version, you may be safe from its consequences (although you may be vulnerable to OTHER nasties).

You can check if your device is vulnerable to THIS PARTICULAR ISSUE by opening Safari and visiting the following URL (must type it in completely as shown):
