Mine has done the same thing. it now does nothing unless i hold it.

I think i read someone else with the same queiry somewhere.

im imac by the way. the one i read was a macbook.

The 10.9.8 update was NOT just a security update as someone mentioned. It had been in beta testing before the security flaw came to light. Here is a link to everything that was addressed in the update.

If I hold for 2 sec (and release) my Mac sleeps.  (prior, it would sleep if I just touched the power button)  Holding for 5 sec brings up the dialog box

It doesn't say that is the only thing it does.

and that is a pretty detailed list. Likely, there are other fixes not listed.

Usually, Apple does not list this much, even when they have this many changes.

Apple listed, as always, what this update includes.

It is not just a security update.

Strange why they changed the times...

It was easy before to inadvertently sleep by just "brushing" the power button on laptops when reaching for the Delete key.

And I inadvertenty type \ when reaching for the return key. Can Apple please put the same delay on '\'?

Why can’t Apple add a power button setting to the keyboard preferences control panel? I want the pre-10.9 functionality. That is to bring up the Restart/Sleep/Shutdown dialogue.

Now I have to use both arms to type ctrl-power. Not very accessible.

The ability to bring up dialog by holding the power button was always there with Mavericks

Actually I loved the 10.9 original behovior, I always wanted to bring my Mac to sleep by touching a button no I'll have to wait for two seconds

Restore the backup you made before you installed the 10.9.2 update and you will have it back. Just not the security. I suppose it depends on each individual's needs.
