Apple Event: May 7th at 7 am PT
After I make an appointment on my calendar, I can not see it on the calendar or in notifications. If I ask Siri - she lists it.
iPhone 5s, iOS 7.0.6
I went into calendars and clicked on all the choices: work. home, everything...
made sure it said to show all calendars, birthdays and so on. Bingo! Using icloud cuz I changed my pw's and something went wrong. Another story.

Thank you for helping me to see my calendars again! I've been searching my phone and iPad, trying to figure it out. I don't know how this calendar was deselected suddenly, but now I know what the problem was, for the next time!

You might try force closing the calendar app by double-tapping the home button, locating the calendar app, swiping up on the image above the app icon to close it, then tapping the home button again. The try your calendar again.
If that doesn't fix things, try resetting your phone by holding the power and home buttons at the same time until you see the Apple logo, then release.
Thanks but neither fixed the issue. If I pull down for notifications, I have no events. If I open my calendar, I nothing. If I ask Siri, she lists 5 appointments because I entered the same thing over and over.
If this is an iCloud calendar, do the events appear on your calendar on icloud.com?
Also, are you adding these events in the past rather than the present/future (more than two weeks ago)?
Dan - i had the exact same problem. I just pressed "calendars" in the center bottom of the page and selected "show all calendars" and my (multiple) appointments all showed up. I hope this helps you too.
