Switching an Ipad Air from AT&T to Verizon

Am I able switch an Ipad Air from AT&T to Verizon cellular service? I'm not sure if its unlocked. If its not, is there anything I have to do to be able to switch carriers? I know that previous Ipad versions weren't capable of this, but I thought the Ipad Air and Ipad Mini 2 were. I called Verion, and they told me "no".

AT&T and Verizon use different protocols. WHich is one reason they aren't easily swappable.

One way to use Verizon on your AT&T iPad would be to use a device like the Mifi. It's a battery powered wifi hotspot that you connect your iPad to. It has the downside of being a second piece of equipment to use but can overcome the propriatary issues of cellular providers

No. Devices used on Verizon must be provisioned for their Network, and be registered in their Database. an AT&T iPad would not be.

You may be able to get them to give you a sim card with the service and replace the AT&T one inside the iPad, but its up to Verizon to want to do this. They probably won't.

I agree with Skydiver that a Mifi device maybe the easiest option.
