Is there a way I can see if a virus is running on my mac. I accidently released the newton virus on my cpu and nothing happened. Its a prank (harmless virus). The virus never launched I looked in activity monitor for anything weird but couldnt recognize anything.
What is "the newton virus?" There's no Mac malware known by that name.

...that is not actually a virus, or any other kind of malware. If you have gotten a copy of it and installed it, contact them for assistance.
The Newton virus only works for os x tiger and leopard, any versions after that it won't work
That´s not true. Works even fine on El Capitan.
