Reducing space

Hallo everybody,

I have a some 22K shots library organized in Albums. It is originally an iPhoro library but I use it only with Aperture now.

There are some (many) Albums in this big library that I really don't need that much, not everyday, and that I woul like to "put aside", in order to get more space and most of all in ordere to have a faster and more responsive Aperture. Is there a way to compress Albums, inside Aperture itself, and put them somewhere so that they don't weigh too much but are still available whenever you need them?

Any time you are worried about Aperture performance, you should repair your Library. Instructions are on the Apple Aperture trouble-shooting page.

As always, you should never use any computer file without having a back-up copy.

How many Images are in your largest Projects? It may no longer be the case, but at some point with 3.x it was recommended to limit the number of Images in a Project to less than 1,000.

In all cases, Aperture is a hardware hog -- though very well trained. What are your system specs? Do you have at least 8 GB of RAM?
