What version of Aperture and the OS are you on? Hold down the option key when launching Aperture. This will bring a a window for you to select the library you were working in. Try opening it that way. If that doesn't work, try opening Aperture while holding down the Option+Command keys. Select the library andthen do a Repair of the library.

If these do not work, provide more info.

I will provide steps for you just to make sure it's clear.

1. Quit Aperture if it's open.

2. Hold down the Option (Alt) key and double-click on the Aperture application.

(A window will open asking which library you would like to open)

3. Select the library you were working on and select <Choose>.

(Does the library open and work as usual? If not, what occurs?)

4. If this does not work and you know for sure you have the correct library chosen, quit Aperture.

5. Hold down the Option (Alt) + Command key while launching Aperture.

6. Choose the library if that window appears or Select the Repair Database option and choose <Repair>.

(you should see a Repair Library Database progress indicator as it's repairing)

Again, make sure you've chosen the library you were previously working on. Sometimes Aperture will open a new library if it can't find the main library.

I have tried both options.

When I got to point 3 I choose the library I was working on and the same error message popped up, so this option did not work.

I then tried the second suggestion and chose the repair option but as before there is no sign of a repair database grogress indicator. Where would I be able to see this and what does it look like. I can't see any evidence of anything happening on my screen.

I have also just tried the first option that comes up in the pop up box where you have to enter your password, this resulted in the same error message.

I don"t know what to do.

I don't really want to have to go for the third option where you have to rebuild you data base - Would this result in loosing images?
