How many folders are selected?

Hi I've just installed mavericks and there's one little thing i'm finding annoying about it. In snow leopard when i selected a group of files or folders, at the bottom of the window it would say something like "12 out of 24 folders selected" but in mavericks there doesn't seem to be any text telling you how many folders/files you currently have selected. Maybe i'm missing something obvious here but is there anyway to get it back? thanks

MacBook Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9.1)

When you are in Finder window, choose View from the menu and select Show Status Bar. The status bar will then appear at the bottom of Finder Window and that is where you will see the file/folder selection counts you are looking for.
