Setting up file sharing between two computers running such different operating systems as Mac OS 9.2 and Mac OS X 10.6.8 is not without complication. A short description is really not possible. It may be easier to use Ethernet (both computers connected to the LAN ports of a router).
The following articles could perhaps be of some help to begin with. They contain a lot of information. Everything is not applicable or necessary (and may not always be correct for the system versions in question), but the documents should at least give you a general idea about how to do things.

Please note that TCP/IP must be used. AppleTalk is not supported on a 10.6.8 computer.
