Is it possible to use both the -i and -r arguments with scp? To copy a directory from a source to destination without a password? I can only seem to transfer single files when using an identity file for scp

You could zip the archive, scp it over, then perform the unzip as the command argument available on an ssh command. If you wanted to work at it, you could probably pipe the whole sequence over into unzip via ssh.
Some form of rsync command would probably be a more common tool choice for this, however.
